Turnaround for Children is a rapidly-growing organization with a powerful, innovative approach for dramatic improvement of low-performing, high-poverty public schools. Turnaround has designed a targeted intervention, based in science, to mitigate the impact of traumatic stress on behavior and learning. In each partner school, Turnaround creates a student support system that provides expedited access to quality mental health services for the highest-need students, trains teachers in strategies to build safe, supportive and productive classrooms, and prepares leaders to develop and execute a schoolwide improvement plan.

Over the past 12 years, Turnaround has grown from an idea to an organization with a $15.2 million budget and 60 employees. Currently, Turnaround partners with 15 schools in New York City, Newark, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., serving over 7,000 students and 700 teachers.
