Dr. Pamela Cantor Wins 2014 Purpose Prize for Intergenerational Impact

Dr. Pamela Cantor, President and CEO of Turnaround for Children, is the winner of the 2014 Purpose Prize for Intergenerational Impact. Sponsored by the Eisner Family Foundation, the prize comes with a $25,000 award.

The Purpose Prize celebrates innovators in the second half of life who are making extraordinary contributions to their communities or the world. A program of Encore.org, the award recognizes those with “the drive to be a part of the solution to some of society’s most pressing challenges—and the wisdom to know how to do it.”

Dr. Cantor, along with the five other winners selected from a pool of nearly 800 nominees, will be honored in a ceremony Tuesday, October, 28, 2014 at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Arizona.

This prize is a tremendous honor for Dr. Cantor. It’s also enormous validation of Turnaround for Children’s efforts to prove that schools can address the obstacles to teaching and learning that stem from poverty and set the stage for significant academic improvement and student growth.
