Helping Children Cope in Disastrous Situations

Center for Disaster Phianthropy

While Turnaround for Children’s work is focused mainly in schools, we recognize that all children need help when facing trauma, whether it’s the daily trauma of poverty or trauma associated with an unexpected disaster.

Recently, our President Dr. Pamela Cantor, was invited to guest blog for our funding partner the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), an organization that help donors make more thoughtful disaster-related giving decisions and maximize the impact of their gifts. CDP provided Turnaround with generous support to aid our work in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In the blog, Dr. Cantor provides tools to prepare parents, teachers and caregivers to recognize early signs of trauma and help children cope. Please read Dr. Cantor’s guest blog here.
