America Forward Highlights Turnaround for Children NASBE Commentary

America Forward highlighted the NASBE commentary written by Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., and Chief of Staff / Vice President of Strategy and Operations, Nora Gomperts, in its Weekly Tip Sheet for June 15.

In the commentary, “Three Strategies to Optimize Students’ Learning and Development in Today’s Context,” Cantor and Gomperts discuss how the coronavirus pandemic, economic fallout, and societal unrest in the wake of police brutality are causing stress, worry and fear for many children. They suggest that educators prioritize The Three Rs: Relationships, Routines and Resilience, which offers strategies to buffer stress and optimize whole-child development.
