Dr. Pamela Cantor Named by Mayor de Blasio to Community Schools Advisory Board
Today, Mayor Bill De Blasio announced the Community Schools Advisory Board, tasked with helping New York City develop innovative systemic approaches to meeting the needs of at-risk children and families. Dr. Pamela Cantor has been chosen to serve on this board, along with advocates, professionals and institutions with experience developing and implementing holistic approaches to helping children learn and grow in school. The announcement follows news that a $52 million grant by the New York Department of Education will develop 40 Community Schools to offer mental health services, family counseling, tutoring and other capacity building initiatives to serve the needs of high-risk students.
