Pamela Cantor, M.D. Cited in iNACOL Paper on Aligning Education Policy with the Science of Learning and Development
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor M.D., was cited as a member of the Technical Advisory Group for the iNACOL / Aurora Institute report Aligning Education Policy with the Science of Learning and Development.
Written by iNACOL / Aurora Institute Policy Director, Natalie Truong, the report synthesizes recent learning sciences research and offers recommendations to align policy with how students learn best. Truong writes:
“We hope to answer the question: To what extent does education policy support and align with what research says about student learning and development? Although there are policies that support the findings of the learning sciences, this alignment is the exception and not the norm. There is an opportunity to transform education systems with what we now know about how students learn. We aim to provide policymakers, K-12 education policy organizations, and funders with a clearer picture of how policy can best support and align with the learning sciences.”
The report also includes a meta-analysis of nine of the “most influential reports on the learning sciences” including the SoLD papers co-authored by Dr. Cantor and others.
