Pamela Cantor, M.D. Presents at Growing the Whole Child Movement: A Year After A Nation At Hope

Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., was a featured presenter at “Growing the Whole Child Movement: A Year After A Nation At Hope.” The gathering of leaders was hosted by America’s Promise Alliance at Gallaudet University, in Washington D.C., and was intended to “mobilize collaboration and fuel progress on the mutually reinforcing and emerging work in service of young people’s social, emotional, and academic development.” It was held in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the Aspen Institute National Commission on Social, Emotional, & Academic Development (SEAD) report A Nation At Hope.

Dr. Cantor gave a short presentation highlighting the convergence of different fields, unifying around a vision for whole-child development and thriving. She noted the efforts of Turnaround for Children and partners in the Science of Learning and Development Alliance to grow the whole-child movement in the different settings where children grow and learn.

Following Dr. Cantor’s presentation, she joined a panel of experts including Karen Niemi, President and CEO, CASEL; Stephanie Jones, the Gerald S. Lesser Professor in Early Childhood Development at Harvard Graduate School of Education and Director of EASEL Lab; and Hal Smith, Senior Vice President for Education, Youth Development and Health, National Urban League, to field questions from the audience.
