Turnaround for Children and the Guiding Principles for Whole-Child Design were mentioned in the Getting Smart article, “From Last Chance to First Choice: Alternative Schools That Show the Way Forward.

Written by Tom Vander Ark and Rebecca Midles, the article explores different types of alternative schools and their unique learner-centered approaches. Offerings at these schools include work experience, dual-enrollment options with local colleges, and community-embedded learning opportunities, among others. When expanding on schools that offer a whole-child approach to learning, Turnaround was mentioned:
