Pamela Cantor, M.D. Presents at CCSSO Summer Leadership Conference

Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., was a featured speaker at the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Summer Leadership Convening.

The virtual convening was held from July 26 to July 29 and was attended by CCSO members, chief state school officers, their senior deputies, and more. 

Dr. Cantor’s session titled, “Strategies for Education Leaders in Addressing Trauma” was moderated by Jillian Balow, President of CCSSO’s Board of Directors and Wyoming State Superintendent, and also featured Dennis Vega, Interim President and CEO of America’s Promise Alliance. 

Their pre-recorded session focused on the effect of trauma on the developing brain, and how adults can use strategies and tools like Turnaround’s the Three Rs to support student wellbeing during this time of COVID-19, racial inequity and widespread civil unrest.

The group also discussed how state education leaders and their agencies can “support districts, schools and their communities in addressing trauma and improving conditions for learning.”
