Pamela Cantor, M.D. Joins Brookings Community Schools Task Force
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor Pamela Cantor, M.D., has joined the Brookings community schools task force, as outlined in, “Community schools and a critical moment in the fight against education inequality,” fromBrookings.
In response to the expanding interest in community school practices during the pandemic, the Center for Universal Education at Brookings, along with the Learning Policy Institute, the Coalition for Community Schools, and the National Center for Community Schools, have launched a community schools task force focused on implementation and guidance in reimagining education systems that can better support children’s development and well-being.
Immediate goals include expanding funding to support community school strategies, new legislation to fund and scale community schools and large-scale evaluations to assess the impact of community schools. Dr. Cantor is joined on the task force by fellow leaders Linda Darling-Hammond, Jim Shelton, Zaretta Hammond, and more.
