Pamela Cantor, M.D., Gives Keynote at Learning and the Brain Conference
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor Pamela Cantor, M.D. gave the keynote address on the second day of the Learning and the Brain Conference in New York City.
The conference included three days of keynote speeches and concurrent learning sessions, as well as pre-conference workshops, all tied to the theme, “Teaching Social Brains.”
In the address, “How Relationships Power the Brain,” Cantor explored how human connections wire the brain and fuel learning. Cantor discussed the neurobiological reasons for this, explaining how trusting relationships trigger the release of oxytocin, and how that hormone feeds curiosity and exploration. The address also touched on relationships being a key factor in unlocking the limits of developmental range in all learners, revealing their potential.
