Turnaround for Children Partnership With D.C. Public Schools Noted In Release
In a news release titled “Number of DC Public Schools Students Ready for College and Career Grows for Fourth Year,” DC Public Schools (DCPS) mentioned its partnership with Turnaround for Children as part of a range of ways that the school district is increasing supports available for students in new ways.
DCPS highlights five ways in which they are increasing supports for students in novel ways during the new 2019-20 school year, including launching connected schools, which “integrate academics, social services and family engagement;” introducing a new system to support schools through a cluster model; digital equity initiatives; real-world experiences, including career academies and early college programs; and targeted investments in lowest performing schools. Turnaround for Children’s partnership with DCPS is focused in this last area.
According to DCPS, “Through school redesign, schools identified as comprehensive through ESSA STAR ratings will receive additional investments from DCPS, including more supports for students with special needs and new partnerships, including Turnaround for Children.”
