Pamela Cantor, M.D. Presents On Newsela Webinar About COVID-19
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D. was a guest speaker at a Newsela webinar titled: “Relationships, Routines, Resilience: Promoting SEL skills from a distance.”
Dr. Cantor joined a panel discussion with Newsela Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer, Dan Cogan-Drew, Newsela Senior Product Manager, Christina Pirzada, and Holmes County School Board Florida, Instructional Administrator, Pamela Price, to discuss The Three Rs (relationships, routines and resilience) that educators can prioritize to support and teach their students now from a distance and when schools re-open.
During the webinar, Dr. Cantor explained the neurobiology of stress and trauma and how to build the vital skills or “muscles” for both educators and students to surmount the coronavirus crisis and thrive in school.
Next, Pirzada gave a short demo of the Newsela platform on how teachers can use Newsela to integrate social-emotional learning into their distance learning routines. Finally, Price shared her insights from a school administrator’s perspective on how to implement social-emotional learning in-person and remotely.
