Pamela Cantor, M.D. Featured on ISTE Ed Influencers Podcast on COVID-19
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D. was a featured guest on an episode of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) “Ed Influencers” podcast, released on April 29.
Dr. Cantor appears on the first episode of the new season, where she spoke to ISTE Chief Learning Officer, Joseph South, about why it’s important for educators to focus on relationship-building and students’ emotional well-being during the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Cantor explains:
If context is the driver, in other words if nurture in fact shapes nature, then the influence we have is on the design of the environments, experiences and relationships that we expose children to. That’s the power that we have and we have it today, and for sure we have it if we wanted to take up the challenge and say, “well, what should a school environment be when kids go back to school?”
Dr. Cantor also spoke about how focusing on “The Three Rs: Relationships, Routines and Resilience,” adults can support the social, emotional, cognitive and academic development of all children at home and when schools reopen.
