Pamela Cantor, M.D. Speaks at Out of the Box hosted by New Classrooms and Transcend
Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., spoke at Out of the Box, a virtual event hosted by New Classrooms and Transcend Education.
Out of the Box featured 11 sessions on the future of school, with panels on strategies and recommendations to drive collaboration among policymakers, advocates, funders, and educators in order to modernize our country’s educational delivery model. The event follows the release of the paper Out of the Box: How Innovative Learning Models Can Transform K-12 Education.
“Most students never get to explore the upper end of their developmental range in school. If we could create experiences to make that possible for any young person, that’s how we accelerate the expression of potential.” – Dr. Pamela Cantor
In the session, “A Brain Scientist & A Technologist Walk Into A…” Cantor was joined by Google Cloud’s Lukman Ramsey, Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sanjay Sarma and Blue Meridian Partners’ Jim Shelton. Panelists discussed the role of context in shaping the mind of young people and how they learn, and how to use that knowledge to design learning environments and supply them with tools and resources to support teachers and students alike.
Other sessions included discussions on state and federal roles and systems, community driven innovations, student voice and the future of education funding.
