Tips from Turnaround Highlighted in ShareMyLesson Article
Turnaround for Children’s tips for reassuring children during times of distress were recently featured in the ShareMyLesson article, “Appendicitis? No, My Child Is Scared to Go to School.”
The original piece, “7 Tips for Parents and Caregivers: Reassuring Children During the Coronavirus Outbreak,” shares tips that adults can use to reassure children during unsettling times and manage stress. For ShareMyLesson, author Kelly Booz repurposes several tips and shares how they can be used not only in reference to the pandemic, but also during other times of great tragedy, such as the recent shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, TX.
As I reread the tips from Turnaround for Children regarding the coronavirus, I realized that the entire tip sheet could have been written as a response to the tragedy in Uvalde.
Booz goes on to share specific tips, including initiating conversations with children, staying calm, communicating regularly and caring for yourself so you can continue to care for others.
