Turnaround Partners with NCLD for COVID-19 Resources on Intersectionality
Turnaround for Children partnered with the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) to develop guides that assist families and school leaders in supporting the social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development of all students during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly those from communities which have historically been excluded from access to opportunity.
Students from systemically marginalized communities are disproportionally affected during this time, including students with disabilities, students of color and students from low-income families. In a period of economic, social and educational challenges, these resources give guidance to families, educators, and school leaders on how to best support the social, emotional, cognitive and academic development of all students.
Created in partnership with Education Trust, Unidos US, the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN), CASEL, COPAA and SEARAC, the resource guides are separated into three categories, with specific action items for families, school leaders and district leaders. With the assistance of these guides, students can emerge from the pandemic stronger and better prepared for school and life beyond the classroom.
