Turnaround Presents to the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation

Turnaround Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., and Vice President of Partner Impact, Gretchen Livesey, presented at a webinar hosted by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.

The Foundation convened a group of teacher preparation programs to discuss how to prepare new teachers entering the field this fall amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the presentation, Dr. Cantor explained the science of learning and development and how stress impacts the brain.

Dr. Cantor also discussed how educators can support student’s social, emotional, cognitive and academic competencies when schools reopen. She suggests that educators focus on Turnaround’s The Three Rs: Relationships, Routines and Resilience to help build the critical skills and mindsets that serve both as protective factors to prevent the impact of trauma and enhance engagement in learning. Livesey explained actionable strategies that educators could use right away.
