White House Convening: Trauma-Informed Approaches in School: Supporting Girls of Color and Rethinking Discipline
The White House Council on Women and Girls, together with the U.S. Department of Education, the Georgetown Law Center on Poverty and Inequality and the National Crittenton Foundation, hosted a conference titled “Trauma-Informed Approaches in School: Supporting Girls of Color and Rethinking Discipline.” The conference aimed to build upon the Administration’s commitment to promoting policies and practices that support the needs and potential of underserved populations, including marginalized girls, young women and their families.
Turnaround’s Executive Director, Washington, D.C., Michael Lamb was invited to participate in a panel, “Understanding and Administrating ACEs.” The panel was facilitated by Jeannette Pai-Espinosa, President, The National Crittenton Foundation and also featured Duane Casares, CEO, Directions For Youth and Families; Nadine Burke Harris, CEO, Center for Youth Wellness; and Roy Wade, Instructor of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Elizabeth Prewitt wrote a wonderful recap of the event on ACEs Connection Network.
