Katie Brackenridge of Turnaround for Children Presents at How Kids Learn Foundation Webinar

Turnaround Partnership Director, Katie Brackenridge, joined American Institutes for Research Managing Director, Deborah Moroney for a webinar titled: “Afterschool’s Whole-Child Approach In the COVID-19 Era.”

The webinar, which was attended by over 200 participants from school districts, community-based, afterschool, and summer programs, was organized by the How Kids Learn Foundation and Temescal Associates.

During the session, Moroney and Brackenridge discussed why it’s essential that schools and school districts partner with afterschool programs to support young people during the coronavirus pandemic. Brackenrdige explained the science of learning and development and how the Three Rs: relationships, routines and resilience, can help adults across all learning settings foster youth development. In closing, the two speakers highlighted key frameworks for K-12 redesign and reopening schools.
