Turnaround for Children Chief Applied Science Officer, Christina Theokas, Ph.D presented at “A Whole-School Approach to Student Well-Being,” an edWebinar sponsored by Educator Impact.
Joined by Mary Terese Lopata, Director of Guidance, Mercy Career & Technical High School (PA) and Emma Mac, Principal, LEAD Southeast Middle School (TN), the group explored the challenges schools face in supporting student well-being. The group shared tools and strategies for supporting students’ social and emotional development through whole-school well-being efforts, including:
- Creating a culture based on a common language around well-being
- Using regular, frequent data to inform real-time interventions and support
- Amplifying staff and student voice
- Monitoring the progress of social and emotional learning curricula, training, and initiatives
