Turnaround Presents to Pikes Peak Online School

Turnaround for Children Partnership Directors, Katie Brackenridge, Dawn Foreman, and Vice President of Partner Impact, Gretchen Livesey, gave a two-day virtual training to educators from Pikes Peak Online School.

During the training, Turnaround staff presented the science of learning and development and offered practical examples of how the educators can implement it into their work. They explored the impact of trauma on the learning brain and the importance of positive developmental relationships when developing the whole child. They also took a deep dive into advisory structure.

By the end of the training, educators walked away with a firm understanding of how biology and context (environments, relationships and experience) drive individual development. The educators were also encouraged to create their own purpose statement grounded in the science of learning and development.
